The Department of clinical immunology & Rheumatology is a unique department dealing with entire spectrum of diseases of the immune system.Auto immune diseases affect nearly 10-20% of indian population & includes rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), psoriatic arthritis , vasculitis and scleroderma etc. Delay in diagnosis , inadequate or inappropriate treatments by unscientific means can lead to chronic deformities , life-long illness, premature death and very high medical and social costs. There are also various myths in community about these conditions and the drugs used for their treatment, hampering the management of these otherwise well controllable diseases.
The department is staffed with highly trained and experienced specialist . The emphasis is not only on early diagnosis and appropriate treatment but also on addressing patient fears and concerns with adequate information . Caring with compassion keeping in mind patients best interest is our endeavor.

The department has the facility to do routine procedures as well as specialized joint and soft tissue ultrasound essential for accurate diagnosis and management.

The department offers specialized immunomodulatory therapy including high dose steroids , biological therapy and intravenous immunoglobulin for the management of autoimmune and immunodeficiency disorders . Joint and soft tissue injections for inflammatory arthritis and soft tissue rheumatism are also routinely performed.
